Have you ever wondered how some websites come to promote vaccines? Well, here’s the answer: Pharmaceutical companies pay enormous amounts of money for websites to promote vaccines.

The influence is subtle for the unsuspecting parent – especially on popular websites such as WebMD.

According to documents located on Merck’s website, at least $3,592,850 dollars was paid to Medscape LLC, a subsidiary of WebMD Health, from 2008 through 2012. If you factor in other cancer programs promoted on WebMD by Merck, the total figure comes to $3,982,850. The amount is likely higher as one of the documents on the website is unavailable.

Last year I wrote about doctors getting paid over $18,810,495.52 by Merck to promote their vaccines. You might notice a common theme: pharmaceutical companies pay huge sums of money to buy influence. WebMD is no exception.

Until recently, the actual amounts have been anyone’s guess – and I think you will agree that 3.5 million dollars is a significant amount. …

I use WebMD and have trusted the information there. I’d hate to find out that the advice it gives depends not on the facts, but on how much some company pays. I am glad they disclose contributions.

Japan Scrambles Fighter Jets To Head Off Chinese Planes

Posted by Anonymous on January 5, 2013

http://forum.globaltimes.cn/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=44989&d=1309946478China’s first ever invasion of Japan’s airspace happened just weeks ago, but the move appears to becoming a routine addition to the burgeoning standoff.

The AFP now reports:

Japan scrambled fighter jets on Saturday to head off a Chinese state-owned plane that flew near islands at the centre of a dispute between Tokyo and Beijing, a Japanese Defense Ministry spokesman said.

The Japanese jets were mobilized after a Chinese maritime aircraft ventured some 120 kilometres (74 miles) north of the Senkaku islands, which China calls the Diaoyus, at around 12:00 pm (0300 GMT), the spokesman said. The Chinese Y-12 twin-turboprop later left the zone without entering Japanese airspace over the islands, he added. It was the first time Japanese fighter jets had been scrambled this year to counter Chinese aircraft approaching the islands, the spokesman said.

This second round of confrontation in the skies comes after Japan dispatched wight fighter jets last month after provocations in the same region of the South China Sea.

As five other countries claim ownership of the Spratly Islands in the area, and its supposed billions in oil and gas deposits, China’s increasing its presence and also backing its claims by sending the newest warship it has to the region.

The Taiwan-owned China Times reports the Liuzhou Type 054A warship entered the South China Sea Fleet of China’s PLA Navy just days ago, making it the sixth 054 warship in the area.

Though the Type 054A is not a new design, this most recently commissioned vessel will have the latest technological advantages. …

Drone Toy for Kids Draws Criticism

Posted by Anonymous on January 5, 2013

The Amazon page for Maisto’s miniature RQ-1 Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has become a sounding board for Americans disgusted with their government’s targeted killing program.

The armed RQ-1 Predator drone is a MALE (medium-altitude, long-endurance) UAV system that has been deployed in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bosnia, Serbia, Iraq, Somalia and Yemen.

Here are just a few of the reviews:

  • “Whether your violating constitutional rights at home, or bombing children abroad, this toy’s perfect for all clandestine missions! Double tap strike to triple your pleasure and casualties!”
  • “The coolest detail about this toy are the small body fragments you can litter around your target area following a drone missile strike on a wedding party. THEN (this is where the real fun begins) you circle back in an hour and fire MORE missiles at the people rescuing survivors and mourning the dead! Sure if another country did such a thing we’d decry it as heinous terrorism, but when good Ol’ Uncle Sam’s finger is on the joystick, you can bet that we call what we hit our target, no matter what.”
  • “Nothing teaches your kids about the fact that they may one day be the target of an extra-judicious execution by executive order via a flying death robot from the movie Terminator, then this beautiful piece of replica toy war crimes.”
  • “I really wanted to show my toddler that it’s okay to murder people and still come out a “hero” as long as you’re in an air conditioned trailer remotely operating a Predator Drone 10,000 miles away in Pakistan.I mean, if the government sanctions murder, it must be ok, right?”
  • “… I bought ten of these for my boy because, as he so rightly says, “So many countries, so little time”. He hasn’t played with his Matchbox V2 Buzz Bomb once since he became a “Drone Operator”. It’s given him a real grasp of imperialism, murder of innocents, the art of war and the complex geography of the Middle East. Thank You Maisto, we look forward to your Cluster Bomb, Land Mine and Gas canister multi pack with anticipation hitherto unseen in the world of play.”

Lost Bicycle Swallowed By Tree

Posted by Anonymous on January 5, 2013

A lost bicycle takes up residence in a Washington tree. A once missing bicycle is serving as a unique and reminiscent piece of art in Vashon Island, located in the Washington state. In 1954, a local resident named Helen received a bicycle as a gift from someone in her community after she became a widow. Helen previous stated “We were given a girl’s bike and my 8-year-old son Don seemed the natural one to ride it.” But one day, Don came home and told his mother that he lost it.As the boy was a little embarrassed about riding a girl’s bike, the family easily forgot about it. Decades later, Helen, now 99 years old, read in a local newspaper that the bike had been found five feet high, embed in a tree. Apparently the tree had grown and taken the bike with it. Both mom and son visited the scene when the story made reports and they both recognized it as the long lost bicycle. One visitor claims that the front wheel of the bike still spins. The bike tree resides approximately 50 feet off of the Vashon highway.

Viral ‘Video Of Explosion in Space’ is a Weather Balloon – Yes Really!

Posted by Anonymous on January 5, 2013

… a lead investigator for the Above Top Secret organization was the first to alert me to the now “viral video” and story of the alleged “strange explosion in space” as recorded by one Elijah Prychodzko, a young Sacramento, California resident. The story broke locally on the 30th (December 2012) and I received Johnny’s e-mail the following day.

Sacramento.cbslocal.com in part wrote:

“This mysterious little tale begins earlier this week when Good Day Sacramento’s Cody Stark got this message on Facebook: ‘I have something on video no one has ever seen. I had my telescope out, caught an explosion in space. Wanna see the video?’

Cody’s response? Absolutely!

The video was shot with an iPhone through the eyepiece of a telescope, so CBS13 had to enlarge it to get a better look. It was shot on Dec. 20 around 5 p.m. in Sacramento by viewer Elijah Prychodzko.

‘I saw something that I’d never seen before. I saw another object orbiting this — whatever it was up there, and I’ve never seen anything like that before,’ said Prychodzko.”

The video that accompanied the article was of the local newscast that aired the story (basically, reiterating the printed article) ; embedded therein was an interview with Prychodzko, along with “snippets” of his video he delivered to Cody Stark (a reporter Good Day Sacramento)).

See video below:
