Thanks, yes, a green laser pointer is another reasonable explanation that would need to be ruled out before glowing green beings.

Fog or dust appears in the photo at that spot (have a look).
(Fog OR Dust) + Green Astronomy Laser = Floating Green Spot

It’s a trivial story, but an example that is useful to help people think critically.

Which is more likely, a green glowing being or a lens flare? Where is the photo with the exact same camera and lens from the exact same location at the same time at night showing a lack of lens flare ? What was the point (subject) of the photograph in the first place?

Perhaps if we learn, in general, to ask the right questions we won’t hold as many unfounded superstitious beliefs, and we won’t be as often ruled by tyrants, tricked into wars or poisoned by industry profiteers.

The light is a vertical bar. The flare is whatever shape the light source is.

Lens flares are usually radial but it’s a possible circumferential, if that’s possible.

I would ask why the couple describe the figure as running away?

A static image discovered after the event would not lead to such language unless they saw ‘it’ actually running away, surely?
